Distinguished Services Awards

On May 29, 2008, the Gastonia Jaycees will honor outstanding citizens who have served our community at the annual Distinguished Service Awards. The Jaycees have proudly presented the Distinguished Service Awards for 59 years, making it one of the longest-running events in Gaston County. We would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who wishes to attend.

David Gaines Memorial Scholarship

Each year in memory of Mr. David Gaines, a former member and president of the Gastonia Jaycees, the Jaycees provide assitance to high-school students in need. This scholarship is $4,000 ($1,000) per year
for a high-school senior who demonstrates a need for financial assistance for their attendance
in at a college or university in North Carolina.


The Gastonia Christmas Parade

Bringing holiday spirit to all, the Jaycees take on the task of ensuring that the community has a Christmas parade so that they may celebrate the oncoming holiday. Each year, the parade consists of local businesses, organizations, schools, and others in a display of floats and cars with plenty of opportunitys for interaction and fun for the crowd. People from the local community are encouraged to participate with bands, queens, floats, or even your favorite four-legged friends! To view photos from this years event, follow the Photos link.


Back to School project

Each year, the Gastonia Jaycees in an effort to make the back to school time an enjoyable time for everyone takes children from the West Gastonia Boys & Girls Club on a shopping trip to Target to pick up school clothes, supplies, and other necessites. N.C. Jaycee Burn Center

The North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center provides specialized care and rehabilitative services to victims of severe burns. Care is focused on the individual patient to make their recovery the best possible. Since its opening, the Burn Center had helped thousands of burn victims resume their lives after treatment.

For more information about these events or if you wish to get involved, feel free to contact a Jaycee or attend one of our bi-monthly meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at the Gaston Chamber of Commerce building located at 601 West Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia (at the corner of Clay Street and Franklin Boulevard).
